Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue responded to a structure fire Wednesday morning at 245 Elm Street in Bothwell.
Crews from Station 9 (Bothwell) and Station 8 (Thamesville) were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. after a neighbour spotted heavy smoke coming from a detached garage and alerted the homeowner.
Twelve firefighters responded to the scene and quickly brought the blaze under control. No injuries were reported, and no one was inside the garage at the time of the fire.
The cause has been deemed accidental, with estimated damages pegged at $5,000.
