Impaired by drug charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 31, 2025, at approximately 2:55 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a report of suspicious behavior involving two individuals observed nodding off in a local restaurant on Queen Street, Chatham.

A concerned complainant reported that the two individuals then entered a vehicle in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers located two individuals.

One person, a 47-year-old male from Chatham, was arrested and charged with the following:

– Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The individual was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters, where he underwent a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluation.

The evaluation confirmed that he was impaired by drugs.

He was later released with a schedule future court date of August 14, 2025, and turned over to the Ontario Provincial Police Service (OPP) in relation to an outstanding incident.
