Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 41-year-old Dresden man has been charged following a break and enter at a North Street home early Thursday.
Police say the homeowner was watching live surveillance video around 5:43 a.m. when he saw someone climb through a basement window and search several rooms.
The suspect was gone when officers arrived, but images from the surveillance footage helped identify him.
He was later arrested and charged with break and enter and commit theft under $5,000.
Police say he was also wanted for failing to comply with release conditions from a previous incident.
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
