CKHA Foundation’s Summer 50/50 to support Wallaceburg hospital redevelopment, $50,000 jackpot guaranteed

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation will launch its Igniting Healthcare Summer 50/50 Fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9 a.m., giving players across Ontario the chance to win a guaranteed minimum jackpot of $50,000 and $10,000 in early bird prizes while supporting a major local healthcare project.

Proceeds from the draw will benefit the Our Hospital, Our Future Wallaceburg Redevelopment Campaign, a $9-million fundraising effort to expand and modernize Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s Wallaceburg hospital site.

The initiative aims to deliver safe, accessible, high-quality care close to home for residents across the municipality.

Since the Igniting Healthcare 50/50 began in 2019, the Foundation has paid out more than $1 million in prizes.

Christine Mitchell, the Foundation’s president and CEO, said the raffle is about more than giving out large cash prizes, describing it as a way to build a stronger hospital that will serve the community for years to come.

The most recent spring draw saw Morpeth resident George Kernohan take home $50,860.

Organizers say the next winner could be crowned this summer.

Tickets will be available at ignite5050.ca starting at 9 a.m. on Aug. 14.

In-person purchases can be made at the Foundation’s Chatham office Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and at the Wallaceburg site office on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pop-up sales will also be held across Chatham-Kent each Tuesday during the campaign, beginning with a launch-day event outside CKXS 99.1 FM in Wallaceburg.

Sales will later move to Foodland in Dresden, Foodland in Bothwell, Shoppers Drug Mart in Ridgetown, Foodland in Tilbury, Home Hardware in Thamesville, and Food Basics in Blenheim, with an additional appearance at CKXS 99.1 FM in late September.

Sales close at 11:59 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, with the grand prize draw scheduled for 1 p.m.

Players must be at least 18 years old and physically located in Ontario to participate.

Complete rules, prize deadlines, sale locations and campaign details are available at ignite5050.ca and lovewallaceburg.ca.
