Municipal crews are investigating after a gas odour was reported in the area behind the Wheatley Public Library branch at 35 Talbot Road West.
“The public can expect to see increased presence in the area behind the library and at the monitoring well,” Municipal officials say.
“Crews are on scene investigating and will be fencing off the area out of an abundance of caution. Small amounts of gas in the soil have been detected; however, there is no risk to public at this time.”
The library remains open under regular hours. The branch is closed on Mondays and Fridays, open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The Municipality said updates will be shared if the situation changes.
