Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Sarnia police say a man was arrested on drug trafficking charges after officers responded to reports of attempted thefts from vehicles early Monday morning.
Police were called to the area of Russell and Wellington Street at 3:07 a.m. on Sept. 29 for reports of individuals trying to steal from parked cars. Officers found two women and a man in the area. Police said the man began acting suspiciously and refused to remove his hands from his pockets.
During a pat-down search, officers found drug paraphernalia and residue. He was arrested for drug possession. A further search revealed a backpack containing 2.25 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 3.96 grams of cocaine, 109.5 grams of MDMA, $481.35 in cash, and other evidence consistent with trafficking.
Police said the man was also on probation at the time of the offence.
The two women were released at the scene, and police said the theft investigation could not be substantiated. The man was held for bail and remanded into custody by the court.
