OPP: Sarnia resident charged in online child exploitation investigation

OPP officials allege: A Sarnia resident has been charged following an online child sexual exploitation investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU).

On October 6, 2025, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Sarnia, seizing several electronic devices.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Sarnia resident was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography.

The accused was released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court on November 10, 2025.

“Online child sexual exploitation is not confined to distant places or anonymous corners of the Internet—it exists in every community,” said Detective Staff Sergeant Chris Barkey of the OPP CSEU. “Our commitment to protecting children is unwavering, and each investigation reflects our determination to expose offenders, safeguard victims, and remind the public that vigilance begins at home.”

The OPP said protecting children remains a top priority, and they continue to work to identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit them. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about Internet safety and can find resources at cybertip.ca or protectchildren.ca.
