The Chatham-Kent Police Service is joining police forces across Ontario in marking Crime Prevention Week, which runs from November 2 to 8 under the theme “Working Together to Protect Ontario.”
The annual campaign, led by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) in partnership with the Government of Ontario, highlights that community safety is a shared responsibility. This year’s theme underscores the importance of collaboration among police, government, businesses, and residents in keeping communities safe.
“Crime Prevention Week reminds us that safety starts with collaboration,” said Deputy Chief Jason Chickowski. “By sharing information, staying vigilant, and looking out for one another, we can make a real difference in preventing crime before it happens.”
Throughout the week, the Chatham-Kent Police Service will focus on preventing crimes against individuals and businesses, reducing victimization, and supporting justice and bail reform efforts that enhance community safety.
Police officials say education, awareness, and partnerships with local organizations remain central to their approach, particularly in addressing violence, theft, fraud, and other property-related crimes.
