Alverna Joanne (Kewayosh) Maness, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed peacefully at home on November 5, 2025 at the age of 71.
She is reunited with her loving and cherished husband Ted Maness.
She will be remembered fondly by her children Ted Jr., Lena (Andrew) Tagak, Matt, and Alaina (Giniw), as well as her grandchildren Ashton, Aiden, Kaleigh, Simaiya, Keisha, Kalynn, Joshua, Ciara, Cordell, Lorenzo, Derrick, Giishkimanisii and Nasawakwat baa.
Great grandmother of Kyler and Sadie.
She was the sister of Marie Gielen (Gary), Perry Kewayosh, Wreathia Johnson (Steve), Cameron Kewayosh, Harlo Kewayosh, Carrie Crow (Jody), Natalie Kewayosh (Rodney), and the late Ted, Jay, Lawrence, Tom and Jason. Alverna worked at the Walpole Island Daycare in her youth and was active in her community as a member of the Library Committee and the Auxiliary Committee.
Family and Friends are invited for community visitation at the Walpole Island Evangelistic Centre on Saturday, November 8 from 10 am-12 pm.
