Man faces multiple charges after intimate partner violence investigation in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing several charges after police investigated an intimate partner violence incident reported on Nov. 14.

Police were called to a Dufferin Avenue residence shortly after 1:30 a.m. for a report involving the man and a 30-year-old woman. Investigators learned several incidents had taken place the previous day.

Police say the man went to the woman’s home on Nov. 13 and assaulted her before punching and shattering a glass window in a stairwell. He then returned inside and assaulted her a second time. The victim required additional medical attention.

Officers formed grounds to charge the man with assault causing bodily harm, mischief under $5,000 and assault. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

The man later surrendered at the Wallaceburg police station around 12:49 p.m. on Nov. 14. He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 16.
