St. Clair Catholic sees continued rise in student enrolment

Student enrolment at St. Clair Catholic District School Board schools continues to grow, with new figures presented at the Oct. 28 board meeting showing another year of increases across both elementary and secondary panels.

Elementary enrolment is up by 73 students compared to September 2024, while secondary schools have gained 193 students. It marks the third straight year of growth for the board.

Since 2023, the elementary panel has grown by 423 students and secondary enrolment has increased by 440.

“This is a welcome trend, following the many years of declining enrolment during the late 1990s and early 2000s,” said Amy Park, associate director of corporate services and treasurer. “After stabilizing for a number of years in about 2016, we’re now seeing growth, which is a sign of a healthy system.”

The report notes the figures represent a snapshot in time, with enrolment typically fluctuating throughout the school year. Official numbers are submitted to the Ministry of Education twice annually, on Oct. 31 and March 31.
