Police investigate fiery single-vehicle crash on Indian Road

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Sarnia police are investigating after a pickup truck struck a hydro pole and burst into flames late Tuesday night, knocking out power in the surrounding area.

Officers were called to Indian Road and Hemlock Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on December 2. As they approached, police saw an older model GMC pickup fully engulfed in fire, with the impact of the crash splitting the wooden pole in half.

No one was found inside the vehicle, and no injuries were reported.

Police say two people were seen fleeing the scene before officers arrived. The Sarnia Police Service K-9 unit conducted a track but did not locate any suspects.

Bluewater Power attended the scene to repair the pole and restore service, and the destroyed vehicle was towed. The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information, including security footage, is asked to contact Sarnia police at 519-344-8861 ext. 0 or Crime Stoppers at 519-332-8477.
