Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Emergency services were called to the Michigan Line and Blackwell Road area on Dec. 12 at 9:25 p.m. after a small plane crashed.
Police say the 21-year-old pilot from Orillia, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, was able to exit the plane through the windshield following the impact. When officers arrived, they found the pilot with a passing motorist who had stopped to provide assistance.
The pilot was treated by paramedics at the scene and later transported to hospital by ambulance. Injuries were described as non-life-threatening and included cuts and bruises.
The aircraft was identified as a Cessna 172N that had departed from the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre.
Transport Canada is investigating the cause of the crash.
