A Thamesville resident is celebrating a major win in the Progressive Lottery.
Greg Spence of Thamesville won the inaugural Catch The Ace CK grand prize of $9,639 during Week 33 after his ticket was selected and the Ace of Spades was revealed. Spence had been playing the game weekly since it began and had also won a weekly prize of $162 just five weeks earlier.
Catch The Ace CK is a collaborative effort between Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent and the Rotary Club of Chatham Sunrise. From each ticket sale, 50% of the value is directed to the two non-profits’ charitable causes, 30% goes toward the progressive jackpot and 20% is awarded to the weekly prize winner.
Over the 33-week run, $6,274 was paid out to weekly winners, while $15,685 was raised in support of the local charitable causes of the lottery’s co-sponsors.
Organizers say Catch The Ace CK will return for a second round in the near future, with new rules aimed at making the lottery easier to play, including ticket prices starting at $5.
