Shirly Hazlett

With peace and her faith and her family by her side, Mrs. Shirly Hazlett passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Fairfield Park, in Wallaceburg, at the age of 86 years. Shirly was born in Sarnia and was a daughter of the late Earl and Viola (Henry) Branton. Beloved and devoted wife, of the late Bob Hazlett, who she still loved and cherished everyday. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Russel (Corinne) Hazlett, Charles “Chuck” Hazlett, Michael (Cherie) Hazlett and the late David Hazlett. Loving grandmother of Andrea (Andrew), Erica (Matt), Lance (Ashley), Jessica (Jeremy), Amanda (Jack), Tiffany (Chris) and loved by 16 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Hattie (the late Melvin) Mills, Joan (the late John) Miller, Ron (the late Sharon) Branton, Dorothy (the late Allan) Dill, Carolyn (Rod) Gallerno, Murray (the late Rose) Branton and the late Marilyn (surviving Alfred) Medd. Kind sister-in-law of Phyllis Hazlett and also survived by many nieces and nephews. Shirly was known for her sweet and kind spirit and great love for her family. In her late teens, she was a teacher at a one room school house where she taught grades 1-8 and then worked for many years for Libby’s Canada. She was a member of North Dresden Baptist Church in her younger years and then later became a member of Port Lambton Baptist Church. Shirly loved going to country jamboree festivals, playing cards and playing the piano and the organ. She was known for her green thumb and was often found reading her bible to strengthen her faith. Friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin St. Wallaceburg, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday December 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Arnold Cemetery, Chatham Township. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation may be left at the funeral home.
