Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham-Kent woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a dog attack investigation in Thamesville.
On January 8, 2026, at approximately 6:26 p.m., Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a dog attack on Victoria Street. Police say a 55-year-old man from Chatham was bitten while attempting to separate his dog from an unrestrained dog that attacked during a walk.
The man did not require further medical treatment, however his dog sustained injuries and required veterinary care.
During the investigation, officers identified the owner of the unrestrained dog as a 50-year-old female from Chatham-Kent. Further checks revealed she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with a probation order. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she is currently being held for bail.
Police are reminding residents of the importance of responsible pet ownership and ensuring dogs are properly restrained to help prevent injuries.
