Man dies following two-vehicle collision near Thamesville

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 63-year-old Chatham man has died following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Selton Line and Orford Road in Thamesville.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officers responded to the collision on Dec. 29, 2025, at approximately 3:44 p.m. Police said an SUV travelling on Orford Road toward Selton Line, carrying an 81-year-old female driver and a 63-year-old male passenger, both from Chatham, failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection, where it was struck by a pickup truck.

The pickup truck was operated by a 54-year-old man from Ridgetown. He was not injured as a result of the collision.

Both occupants of the SUV were transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for treatment. The male passenger was later transferred to Windsor Regional Hospital for additional medical care.

On Jan. 1, 2026, at approximately 2 p.m., police were notified that the male passenger had succumbed to his injuries. As a result, the Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Management Unit has taken over the investigation.
