Woman charged after vehicle damaged in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 40-year-old Chatham woman has been charged after a vehicle was damaged during a disturbance on Princess Street North.

Chatham-Kent police responded to a residence in the area at about 8:42 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2026, after receiving a report that a female had struck a vehicle with a metal shovel. Officers determined a vehicle had been damaged and located the suspect in possession of the shovel. Following a brief foot pursuit, the woman was arrested.

She was charged with mischief under $5,000 and transported to police headquarters. She was later released with a court date scheduled for Feb. 5, 2026.
