Marjorie Christner

Marjorie Victoria Christner (nee Woodward) of Wallaceburg, Ontario passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2026 at the age of 92.

Marjorie was born September 6th, 1933 to William and Jennie (nee Southgate) Woodward. She is pre-deceased by her sisters Vera, Esther, Audrey, Eleanor and Susan.

Marjorie was married to William Gordon Christner for seventy-three years until his passing on January 8th, 2025.

Survived by all eleven of her children. Marjorie will be forever missed by Lesley (Ken) McGillivray, Janet, Stephen (Elizabeth), Julie (Ron) Ameloot, Eileen (Lee) Stanlick, Carol (Brian) Robinson, John (Lori – d. 2014), Peggy (Daniel) Kun, Michael (Shannon), Anthony (Todd) and Matthew. Her lasting legacy also includes twenty Grandchildren, twenty-four Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Grandson.

After raising her youngest child to school-age Marjorie embarked on her lengthy Nursing career at St Joseph’s Hospital in Sarnia where she provided compassionate care to all her patients until retiring at the age of 78. As a life-long learner she continued working on upgrading her Nursing Diploma into a Degree well into her 70’s through online learning. Her dedicated passion in Nursing inspired many generations in her family to pursue careers in health care.

Her personal hobbies included camping trips with family and friends, listening to music, reading, crochet, baking and tending to her gardens. She also delighted in cheering on her beloved Toronto sports teams.

Her ultimate happiness was in being surrounded by her large family at various gatherings and occasions.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231) on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 12pm until 2pm, at which time we will escort Marjorie to her final place of rest at Riverview Cemetery.
