Wallaceburg impaired driving complaint leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Walpole man is facing impaired driving charges following a complaint in Wallaceburg.

Shortly after midnight on January 9, 2026, at approximately 12:39 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Police Service officer responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the drive-thru of a business on McNaughton Avenue.

Officers located the vehicle and observed signs that the driver was impaired. The accused, a 34-year-old male from Walpole, was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath testing, where he provided two samples above the legal limit.

He was charged with operation while impaired and operation while over 80 milligrams of alcohol. The accused was later released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on January 22, 2026.
