Police seek help identifying suspect after stolen vehicle used in Wallaceburg fuel theft (Video)

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Police are asking for the public’s help after a vehicle stolen in Sarnia was later linked to a fuel theft at a Wallaceburg gas station.

The Sarnia Police Service says a white 2017 Chevrolet Colorado was reported stolen early Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, from a business in the 1800 block of London Line in Sarnia. The pickup truck bears Ontario licence plate 9982MW.

Investigators say security video from the Sarnia business shows two suspects accessing the truck from the rear of the property and driving it off the lot after bypassing locked gates. Both suspects appeared to be of average build and were dressed in dark clothing, with their faces covered by balaclavas.

Later that same day, at about 7:40 p.m., police were notified that the stolen vehicle was involved in a fuel theft at a Shell gas station in Wallaceburg. Video footage from the gas station shows a single individual operating the stolen truck at the pumps. The person was wearing winter-style clothing, a hooded sweatshirt and a face covering.

Police say the suspect pumped approximately $18 worth of fuel before fleeing the area in an erratic manner. At the time of the Wallaceburg incident, the stolen truck was also observed to have a burnt-out rear passenger-side light.

Investigators say it is not yet known whether the individual seen at the Wallaceburg gas station is the same person involved in the original vehicle theft in Sarnia.

Video footage related to the investigation (see below) has been released in hopes someone may be able to identify those involved.
