Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A woman wanted on an outstanding warrant was arrested after surrendering to police in Chatham.
On January 19, 2026, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a 39-year-old woman from Romney Township attended the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters on Third Street, where she was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant.
The warrant stemmed from an incident on August 25, 2020, when Chatham-Kent police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a telephone pole on Stewart Street in Tilbury. Officers located the driver, who showed signs of impairment. Following further investigation, she was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath testing.
She was originally charged with impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, operation while prohibited, two counts of driving while suspended and careless driving. She was released at that time with a court date of September 9, 2020, which she failed to attend, resulting in an additional charge of failure to attend court and the issuance of a warrant for her arrest.
Following her arrest on January 19, 2026, the woman was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on February 23, 2026.
