Woman charged following retail thefts in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 33-year-old Chatham woman is facing multiple charges after thefts at retail stores in Chatham.

Police responded to reports of thefts at two businesses on St. Clair Street on Jan. 17, 2026, at about 3:18 p.m. Investigators determined merchandise was taken without any attempt to pay.

Using surveillance footage and a vehicle description, police located the woman, who attempted to flee on foot before being arrested. Further investigation linked her to an additional theft at another Chatham business.

She was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 in relation to both incidents. She was released with a court date of Feb. 12, 2026.
