Man charged after disturbance at Highway 402 rest stop

OPP officials allege: An individual is facing a charge after a disturbance at a rest area in Plympton-Wyoming, police say.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Lambton County detachment responded shortly after 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2026, to a report of a disturbance involving two people at a westbound Highway 402 rest stop.

Police said minor injuries were reported and the investigation determined pepper spray was deployed during the incident.

A 48-year-old man from Leamington was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with assault with a weapon. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on March 5, 2026.
