Emergency crews responded to two separate motor vehicle collisions in the community early Friday morning, according to the Walpole Island Fire Department.
Firefighters attended both scenes and worked to ensure the areas were safe before being cleared. Crews have since been released from both incidents.
Police remained on scene at the first collision location as of publication to continue their investigation. Further details about the cause of the crashes were not immediately available.
Officials said it is not yet known whether alcohol was a factor in either incident.
Residents are being asked to avoid the area of the first collision to allow emergency personnel to work safely.
The fire department also used the incidents as a reminder about the dangers of impaired driving, urging motorists to plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride rather than driving under the influence.
