Chatham-Kent man faces multiple charges after disturbance and alleged assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 43-year-old Chatham-Kent man is facing multiple charges after a disturbance at a business on Grand Avenue East.

Chatham-Kent Police Service says officers responded to the call at about 1:04 a.m. on March 7.

Police allege an intoxicated man became agitated with staff who were attempting to have him leave the establishment and assaulted a staff member before fleeing the area.

Officers later located the suspect nearby and arrested him.

While in custody at Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, police allege the man assaulted a police officer and caused damage inside a holding cell.

The accused has been charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer and mischief under $5,000.

He was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court June 9, 2026.
