Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent marks 40 years with annual Walk for Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent is marking a major milestone this year as it celebrates 40 years of service alongside the return of its annual Walk for Alzheimer’s fundraiser.

The organization announced the 2026 walk season will kick off with events throughout May, highlighted by the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s on May 30 at Kingston Park in Chatham.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon and feature live music, a barbecue and family-friendly activities as the community gathers to raise awareness and support those living with dementia.

Organizers say residents who cannot attend in person are still encouraged to participate by fundraising or hosting their own walks during the month.

In addition to the walk, the organization is offering other ways to support its programs, including a 50/50 raffle, bingo events and a quiz night fundraiser, with proceeds going toward local services.

The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent has set a fundraising goal of $75,000 to help meet growing demand for support in the community. Funds raised will remain in Chatham-Kent and assist individuals living with dementia, as well as their families and care partners.

To register or support the campaign, residents can visit walkforalzheimers.ca or contact the organization directly for more information.
