Wallaceburg resident charged following shoplifting investigation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 28-year-old Wallaceburg resident is facing charges after a shoplifting incident at a retail store on McNaughton Avenue.

Chatham-Kent police say officers responded to the call at about 7:41 p.m. on March 25, 2026.

Police allege the individual entered the store, selected merchandise and left without paying. The accused was later located by officers.

Further investigation revealed the individual was on probation with conditions not to attend the location.

The accused has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order.

Police say the individual was released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on July 9, 2026.
