Chatham man held for bail after arrest on outstanding assault warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 30-year-old Chatham man is in custody following his arrest on an outstanding warrant related to an assault investigation.

Police say the original incident occurred on Jan. 20, 2025, when officers responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Blythewood Crescent.

Upon arrival, officers located a 40-year-old male victim with visible injuries. Police say the victim required medical attention and was transported to hospital.

Investigators allege the accused physically assaulted the victim, and he was later charged with assault. He was initially arrested on Jan. 25, 2025, and released with a court date of March 3, 2025.

Police say the accused failed to attend court on two occasions, resulting in an endorsed warrant being issued for his arrest.

On April 2, 2026, at approximately 12:17 a.m., the accused was located on Park Avenue West in Chatham and arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant.

He was transported to police headquarters and remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
