Wheatley water tower rehabilitation underway, no impact to service expected

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent says scheduled rehabilitation work on the Wheatley Water Tower is underway, with construction crews already mobilizing to the site.

The municipality said the work will not impact water delivery or water pressure in Wheatley.

The project involves sand blasting and recoating both the interior and exterior of the water tower. Safety fencing will be installed around the construction area to protect workers and the public.

Construction is expected to run from April 2026 to October 2026, with work generally taking place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and occasional weekend work.

Final restoration work, including topsoil replacement, seeding and fence repairs, is scheduled for October 2026.

The municipality said it appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as the maintenance is completed.
