Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 36-year-old Bothwell man is in custody following an alleged breach of a release order in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police say the man had entered into a Form 11 release on March 29, 2026, which included conditions prohibiting contact with a female victim, except under specific circumstances outlined by a family court order.
On April 7 at approximately 9:40 p.m., the victim received a group text message from the accused, in violation of those conditions. The incident was reported to police, who confirmed through investigation that the phone number used belonged to the accused.
Based on the victim’s statement and evidence gathered, officers established reasonable grounds to lay a charge of failure to comply with a release order under section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code.
The man was arrested on April 13 and is being held for bail.
