OLG contribution to Chatham-Kent tops $1.8M in 2026, total surpasses $21M

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is recognizing a new annual contribution from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation tied to the operation of Cascades Casino Chatham.

The municipality received $1,839,337 for the 2026 fiscal year through its Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG. Since the casino opened on April 18, 2001, total contributions to Chatham-Kent have reached $21,382,260.

Municipal officials say the funding helps offset the cost of locally delivered services while also supporting grants, community groups, events, public art and other initiatives.

“OLG truly values being a long-standing partner in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and to communities across Ontario.

Every dollar of OLG’s profit is returned to Ontario to support the things people care about most, like critical infrastructure, local initiatives, and community events. Those dollars are making a difference here in Chatham-Kent.

The impact wouldn’t be possible without the great team at Cascades Casino Chatham Kent, whose work supports both the local economy and community well-being. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario,” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager.

Mayor Darrin Canniff said the funding continues to play a key role in the municipality.

“OLG revenue continues to play an important role in strengthening our community,” he said. “These funds help us invest in the services, programs and local initiatives that residents rely on every day. Through programs like Together CK, we’re able to support events, community projects and grassroots organizations that bring people together, enhance quality of life, and contribute to the vibrancy of Chatham-Kent.”

The municipality’s Together CK grant program distributes funding across significant events, community events and community projects.

Over the past 25 years, the program has supported 443 events and 548 projects aimed at strengthening community connections and culture in Chatham-Kent.
