Man charged following vehicle entries and struggle with police in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham-Kent man is facing several charges after police responded to a report of a person going through vehicles in a residential area.

According to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, officers were called on April 15 to Sylvester Drive, where a male was reported to be entering vehicles. Police located the suspect and a struggle occurred before he was taken into custody.

A 53-year-old man from Chatham-Kent has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, trespassing at night and obstructing a peace officer. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a scheduled court date of July 15, 2026.
