Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 67-year-old Chatham man is facing charges following an intimate partner violence investigation in the southeast area of Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police said officers responded to a residence at about 7:31 p.m. on June 9. During the investigation, police learned a woman allegedly owed the man money from a debt incurred about two years ago. Officers also learned the man had allegedly threatened the woman on previous occasions while seeking repayment.
Police said the pair encountered each other again on June 9 and a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation.
The man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats. Police also executed five outstanding warrants under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act. He was transported to police headquarters and was being held pending a bail hearing.
