Huron Shores Area Transit adds two new Thedford bus stops starting July 1

Huron Shores Area Transit is expanding service in Thedford with the addition of two new downtown bus stops beginning July 1, aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for local riders.

The new stops will be added to Route 1, which operates between Sarnia and Grand Bend through Lambton Shores. Transit officials said the changes were made in response to feedback from community members who found it difficult to walk to the existing stop at The Legacy Centre.

By introducing bus stops closer to Country Manor Estates Retirement Home and several apartment buildings, Huron Shores Area Transit said it is helping make public transportation more accessible for individuals with mobility challenges.

One of the new stops, designated Stop #1000, will be located on Main Street at the Thedford Village Complex and will serve passengers travelling toward Grand Bend. The second stop, Stop #1050, will be located at 119 Main St., next door to the Beer ‘N More Convenience Store, and will serve passengers travelling toward Sarnia.

The existing bus stop at The Legacy Centre will remain in service.

Service at the new stops will begin on Canada Day, July 1, 2026. Additional information, including an updated Route 1 schedule, is available through Huron Shores Area Transit at HuronShoresAreaTransit.ca or by calling 1-888-465-0783.

Huron Shores Area Transit is partially funded by the Ontario government and its transit partners, including the municipalities of Lambton Shores, South Huron, Bluewater and Plympton-Wyoming, as well as the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. The transit system provides public transportation linking those communities with the regional centres of Sarnia, London and Goderich.
