Sarnia man charged after R.I.D.E. check in Grand Bend

OPP officials allege: A 28-year-old Sarnia man is facing an impaired driving-related charge following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check in Grand Bend.

Members of the Lambton County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were conducting a R.I.D.E. check on Oak Street shortly after 6:30 p.m. on June 13 when the driver was stopped.

The suspect was arrested and charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams or more.

Police said a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated under provincial legislation.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on July 21.

Police reminded the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911 in emergencies. Complaints involving impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be reported to OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
