Blenheim man faces multiple charges after disturbance investigation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 24-year-old Blenheim man is facing several charges following a disturbance investigation in Blenheim.

Chatham-Kent police said officers responded to a residence on Malborough Street at about 12:04 p.m. on June 22 after receiving reports of a dispute between two people that had escalated into violence.

Investigators determined property had been damaged and that a cup of tea had been thrown during the incident. Police also allege the victim was struck and kicked.

During the investigation, officers located a multi-tool knife believed to belong to the accused. Police said the man was prohibited by court-ordered conditions from possessing weapons or items defined as weapons under the Criminal Code.

The Blenheim resident was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000, assault with a weapon, assault, failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a probation order.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
