Man arrested after break-in at Sandys Street construction site

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man is facing a break and enter charge after being found inside a building under construction on Sandys Street.

On Monday, August 3, 2026, at approximately 6:05 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to reports of a break and enter at a building on Sandys Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned a male suspect had gained entry into a building that was currently under construction. Police searched the building and located a male party hiding inside.

As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Chatham man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The accused was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
