Weapons charge laid after family dispute in Dresden

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 37-year-old man is in custody after allegedly threatening police with a large object during a family dispute.

Chatham-Kent police responded to a call on Aug. 2 around 11:30 p.m. and found grounds to arrest the man for mischief under $5,000.

Police say the man raised an object in a threatening way and ignored repeated commands.

Officers used their conducted energy weapons to gain compliance and made the arrest without injury.

The man is charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and resisting arrest.
