A new Remembrance Day–themed crosswalk has been unveiled near the Wallaceburg Cenotaph, just in time for the community’s Nov. 11 ceremony.

“If you are out near the cenotaph today, be sure to have a look at our beautiful crosswalk we were so lucky to have painted for us,” Wallaceburg Legion Branch 18 officials said on social media last week. “Thank you to Councillors McGregor and Hall and all of those involved in making this possible, we appreciate this so much!”
The Wallaceburg installation is part of a broader initiative to create crosswalks honouring Canada’s veterans in communities across Chatham-Kent. The project is funded through Hydro One Councillor Ward Funding, following the approval of a motion at council and a collaborative design process.
After successful installations in Chatham and Blenheim earlier this year, the initiative has expanded to include Wallaceburg, Dresden, Erieau and Tilbury.
