Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Sarnia man is being held for bail after being arrested on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop in Sombra early Monday.
Chatham-Kent police say the original investigation dates back to Oct. 9, 2022, when officers conducted a traffic stop on an unplated motorcycle travelling westbound on Richmond Street in Chatham. Police determined the motorcycle had no valid licence plate and that the rider could not provide a valid driver’s licence, proof of ownership or insurance. Further investigation revealed the motorcycle had been reported stolen and that the rider was driving while under suspension.
The 54-year-old man from Sarnia was charged with multiple offences and released with a court date but later failed to attend court on two occasions, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest.
On Jan. 26, 2026, at about 2:10 a.m., the Sarnia Police Service located the man during a traffic stop on Bentpath Line in Sombra. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant and returned to the Chatham-Kent Police Service, where he is currently held for bail. Chatham-Kent police thanked the Sarnia Police Service for their assistance.
