Chatham man charged with forcible confinement after alleged assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 21-year-old Chatham man has been charged with forcible confinement and assault following a domestic dispute early Sunday morning.

Chatham-Kent police say officers were dispatched to a Chatham residence at approximately 1:06 a.m. on July 12 regarding a dispute. Investigators allege a man locked the door to the residence and pinned a woman down to prevent her from leaving, in addition to spitting on her several times.

The man was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters. He was later released on a Form 10 with a court date set for Aug. 20, 2026.
