Chatham-Kent Public Health has declared a respiratory outbreak on units 2 East and 2 West at Riverview Gardens.
Under additional guidelines in effect for those two units, visitors are asked to postpone all non-essential visits. A surgical mask, provided at each entrance, must be worn at all times on the units, and residents are not permitted to leave the units unless for a medical or essential reason.
Visitors are asked not to visit more than one resident per visit. Anyone visiting a resident who is isolated or ill must wear full personal protective equipment before entering and remove it upon exiting. Hand hygiene is required before entering and when leaving the units.
Activities will continue on the units for residents who are not ill, and those residents are encouraged to wear a mask. Residents on other units cannot attend activities on the affected units.
As a general reminder, people are asked not to visit Riverview Gardens if they are sick and to practise good hand hygiene while visiting.
