OSPCA investigating Rottweiler attack

The OSPCA confirmed with the Sydenham Current that an investigation has been launched into a recent Rottweiler attack on a boxer in Chatham.

Brad Dewar, a spokesperson with the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said the investigation is on-going.

“We’re in the early stages of collecting information,” Dewar said.

Dewar confirmed that the OSPCA are investigating the incident between a boxer and Rottweiler from the McNaughton Avenue area on Saturday, Sept. 13.

“The police were involved and now the animal control officers are investigating,” he said.

Dewar added not many details are available at the moment, but more are expected by the end of the week.

Kim Babo, Carter’s owner who works at Community Living Wallaceburg, said the pup had to be brought back into the veterinarian yesterday for more surgery.

Babo said his wounds needed to be closed up again and the infection drained out of his neck.

Besides some obvious discomfort for Carter, and the fact that her other dog keeps trying to clean Carter’s wounds, Babo said he is resting at home.

After the attack, the Pet And Wildlife Rescue group in Chatham-Kent launched a fundraising campaign to help off-set the cost for Babo and her family. The funds raised has reached over $650 so fasr.
