Sydenham Current reaches 100,000 milestone

sydenham current chartNine months ago today, Dana and I launched the Sydenham Current.

While the drama of ups and downs, twists and turns, hitting rock bottom and making a triumphant comeback might make for a better headline or story line… this is not the case with us.

The momentum that kick started with our pre-launch support has continued into today and the ride has truly been awesome.

The business communities in Wallaceburg and Dresden have been amazing in supporting us right from the get go.

The people and readers in the community are coming out in droves as well, more than Dana and I could have ever expected.

In fact, the statistics we’ve been getting have made our jaws drop.

In a recent 30-day span, the Sydenham Current eclipsed 106,000 page views with over 28,000 users coming to our site.

That is a lot of people and a lot of clicks, folks!

We are truly grateful for this support and we continue to strive on a daily basis to bring you valuable information and content, and keep striving towards our mission.

When we started the paper, we had a vision in mind for what we wanted it to provide for the community – to ensure our media is kept at home.

Why is it important to have top quality, local media?

We feel it is essential to:

– Ensure our accomplishments are recognized (WDSS student earns ‘incredible feat’ at physics competition)

– Concerns are addressed publicly (Wallace Street petition picking up steam)

– Accountability is upheld (LKDSB discusses its ‘bullying’ policy)

– Causes are supported (Wallaceburg girl gathering toys for Ronald McDonald House)

– Businesses are unified (Fascial stretching available in Wallaceburg, New Massage Therapy business opening in Dresden, Wallaceburg brothers teaming up with Kevin O’Leary)

– And our neighbours are informed (Baldoon Golf Club is closing, No Bull: All mayoral, Wallaceburg and North Kent responses), engaged (Wallaceburg Relay For Life not happening in 2015) and entertained (Throwback Thursday: Landon’s in Wallaceburg 1973, WOW! Win a prize pack from CK Spices, Coffee & Teas!)

We will continue to dig into stories that will make us smile, make us cry, make us laugh and make us angry.

All the businesses that support us… you are the one’s that keep making it possible for us to do this work in the community.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
