The Clubhouse at Baldoon has a new identity.
The restaurant, catering and banquet business, located inside the former clubhouse of the Baldoon Golf Course, has chosen the winner of the logo contest they launched on the Sydenham Current a few weeks ago.
The winner was Wallaceburg resident Sherri DeWolf, who many readers will remember as the owner of the St. Clair Surfwear Company.
“With the successful launch of a logo I designed to represent my own apparel company last spring, it was another opportunity to design a logo that would have meaning for a local landmark near and dear to our hearts and support another local business amid somewhat of a “new” start-up,” DeWolf said. “I grew up down the street from ‘The Baldoon’ and still pass by the area on a regular basis, so I knew right away the image that I wanted to bring to life.”
DeWolf explained her thought process behind creating the image.
“I wanted the logo to be a simple, yet eye-catching, an image that reflected the actual physical structure of the building… the peak that you see from the highway… and the history of its origin… the trees symbolizing the original grounds of the Baldoon Golf Course,” she said.
“My aim was also for the logo to be casual, yet classy, to represent ‘The Clubhouse’ and its amenities… casual enough to show up for breakfast or lunch and classy enough to host a wedding.”
DeWolf added: “Melissa (Gaylard) and her staff are a great group and the food/catering services they offer at ‘The Clubhouse’ are top notch. I was more than happy to support them in their new venture and am excited to see the new signage.”
Gaylard said they are very excited to have someone local win the logo contest.
“Sherri’s logo is perfect, it is simple yet says exactly what we want,” she said. “The tree line keeps some of the history of the golf course represented.”
Gaylard said The Clubhouse at Baldoon is open seven days a week.
“We have such a beautiful facility here and many new and exciting things planned,” she said. “We have launched our new menu and Facebook page.”
The current restaurant hours are 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., seven days a week.
They are also available to cater anytime on or off site.
