Duke Street fire under investigation

The Chatham-Kent Fire Department is investigating a house fire in Wallaceburg.

Fire crews were called to 88 Duke Street in Wallaceburg at 8:02 p.m. on Saturday night.

“Firefighters arrived at the scene of a working fire at an unoccupied home,” said Alan DeVillaer, assistant chief. “Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire. There were no injuries and no other structures were damaged.”

Damage is pegged at $50,000, while $100,000 in property was saved.

The investigation is on-going.
