The 3rd annual WAMBO River Run is scheduled for Saturday, August 8.
The Defiance Running Club is hosting the event and the executive is expecting between 200 and 300 participants.
All proceeds from the event support the Defiance Youth program, which is a county-wide project that involved over 3,000 students last year.
The run/walk begins at Steinhoff park and follows the east branch of the Sydenham River for most of the race.
There is a 5K and 10K run as well as a 5K walk-only.
This year, the WAMBO River Run is honored to welcome Access Athletics Racing Team and Team Hoyt Canada to the event.
THC will have 4 racers participating and AART will have 7.
All participants receive a technical t-shirt, a goodie bag and a delicious assortment of post-race treats including fruit and homemade cheesecake.
At the finish line, WAMBO River Race executive will be on hand to distribute cold cloths and bottled water.
The WAMBO River Run is scenic, family/stroller friendly, and it is the only local run in the month of August.
Once the run is complete and the awards have been distributed, participants are only a stone’s throw from WAMBO, Wallaceburg largest one day event, featuring dozens of antique boats and hundred of classic cars.
Fun for all ages, WAMBO is a great way to complete your visit to Wallaceburg.
