On Saturday 26, 2015 Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services will be participating in the Firefighter for a Day event.
Our special guests will be given the opportunity to live a day in the life of a firefighter. We cannot say that there is a “typical day” for the Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services team. Each day or “shift” brings the firefighter new opportunities and challenges.
The Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services team has evolved into a multi-faceted public service agency and participate daily in emergency medical treatment, hazardous materials, public education, fire protection systems, apparatus and equipment operation and maintenance, public relations and of course fighting fires.
The event includes a full day of responsibilities and activities aimed at providing the accurate and exciting experience of being a ‘firefighter for the day’. From suiting up in full bunker gear to responsibilities and equipment checks; training in apparatus operations; search and rescue procures; aerial bucket set-up; and hose handling, you will have the front line involvement in fire and emergency procedures.
