Vandamme is golden

Wallaceburg’s Emily VanDamme has captured an OUA gold medal with the Trent Excalibur Women’s Lacrosse team.

Trent dethroned the Western Mustangs in the OUA championship game, winning a close battle 11-10.

This was VanDamme’s first season with the Excalibur, and it was Trent’s first-ever Women’s Lacrosse title.

They enjoyed a perfect season, going 3-0 in the playoffs and 13-0 in the regular season.

VanDamme has played three season of Jr. ‘B’ lacrosse with the Wallaceburg Red Devils.

Lakers fall in OT

The Wallaceburg Lakers lost a hard-fought game on Thursday night in Petrolia, losing 5-4 in OT.

Josh Farrugia, Trevor Waller, Cory Lucier, and Brett Farr scored the goals for the Lakers.

George Hill made 34 saves in the loss.

Wallaceburg had leads of 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3 throughout the game, but couldn’t hold on for the victory.

The Lakers currently have a 1-13-1 record on the season, and sit in last place in the Stobbs division.

Wallaceburg will host a rare Sunday night game in Wallaceburg, when Wheatley comes to town.

Game time is at 7:30 p.m.

Tartans fall in Sr. football, Senior girls win in hoops action

The Wallaceburg Tartans were swept in Sr. Football and Sr. and Jr. girls hoops on Thursday. Here are the results:
